Children's Events
Our Children's Outings are an opportunity to bring underserved children to Lake Wylie for a day of FUN. ​America’s Boating Club | US Power Squadron for 60-years supported underserved children from Welfare Agencies and Title 1 Schools throughout York County. This has been a service of joy for our members. We have been blessed by the community support we receive.
A partial list of our sponsors include; the York County Council, Mayday Foundation, Walmart, York Bank, and Sweet Repeat.
Our members contribute their time, boats and treasure to ensure the success of our events. Just a few years ago, we served 75 children; last year we held three events and served over 700 children and their families.
Our Children’s Outings and Holiday Party allow the children to experience new and exciting activities. We have been told by several Welfare Agencies that these events have been “life changing”.
We teach the children the fine art of fishing, swimming, archery, boating and how to have good clean fun. We have always provided a great BBQ lunch, then we noticed the kids were coming to the event hungry so, we added breakfast sandwiches and juice.
Parents have told us moving stories that let us know the hard-work we are doing is worth it. For example, one mother said this was the first time in weeks she had seen her children smile because they are living in a tent. Another mother said she didn’t know how her kids would have a real Christmas because she had no income, her children cried as they received their gifts and bikes, the first bikes they ever had.
You can be part of our ever-growing work to instill in our children a dream, a dream of what can be. With your help, their future can be filled with unlimited opportunities. And, 100% of your grant helps underserved children.

Volunteer!
The children's events provide an opportunity to help underserved children and their families.
Each events requires a lot of planning and support. You are strongly encouraged to become a volunteer. What do we need help with? Planning, contacting and working with the Welfare Agencies, fund raising, organizing vendors, and helping on the event day with registration, life jacket fittings, meals, setting up, play sites and taking the kids boating.
